I rewatched Mystic River for the first time in probably five or more years. What a beautiful and heartbreaking film, directed to perfection by Dirty Harry himself.

Since the last time I watched this film, my wife and I have welcomed a beautiful, healthy happy little girl into the world. Now this film takes on more meaning to me than when I was not a father.
That’s the great thing about art, as far as I can tell: you can revisit it over a lifetime and its meaning changes depending on your own experiences!
Sean Penn was masterful in this film, as was Kevin Bacon, Lawrence Fishburne, Marcia Gay Harden, Laura Linney and Tim Robbins.
